Monkey pacifiers

About 3 weeks ago we introduced pacifiers to Little Sir, because he was starting to "snack" between actual feedings - he would ask to be fed but then not really feed at all, just mess around. Really, he just wanted to have something in his mouth to suck on, so we gave him his first pacifier. He wasn't very good at it, at first. He couldn't keep it in his mouth. There was one day where I spent about 2 full hours just sitting beside him, picking it up every time he spit it out and putting it back in. It was mindnumbingly boring!!! But he is getting much better at it now.

When he does lose a paci from his mouth, it is usually intentional - he spit it out for some reason. We started using the Natursutten BPA-Free Natural Rubber Pacifier, which is great for having no chemicals at all, but the downside is that when it falls, it bounces like, well, a rubber thing!

So we had to buy one of those little tether things that clips the paci to clothing. I found one at a Carter's outlet in San Antonio that is a little monkey! Here it is, although in this picture it isn't clipped on to anything:
We also had registered for a special pacifier that attaches to a stuffed animal, and got it at one of our showers, I think from my friends Wendy and Eileen. We hadn't tried using it because we thought he was too young but this week we gave it to him and it works great! It is so cute when he falls asleep with the monkey pacifier:
